The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has received special water-rescue kits from the Blue Sky Rescue (BSR) Foundation, a Chinese rescue organisation, in a signing-ceremony held at CDA headquarters.
At the event, CDA Member Administration Talaat Mehmood thanked the foundation for the equipment, calling it “a valuable gift that will enhance the safety of the federal capital and strengthen our emergency-services capacity.”
He added, “These modern rescue kits will enable our staff to respond more effectively to water emergencies.”
Blue Sky Rescue Foundation’s team said they would continue cooperation “in pursuit of our shared goal of saving human lives,” and pledged to provide special training to CDA’s relevant personnel on the use of the rescue kits, Gwadar Pro reported.
Also present were senior officers from CDA and the Islamabad Emergency Services, who said the new kits, which are provided free of cost, would significantly improve the city’s ability to manage water-related accidents and respond rapidly to emergencies.
According to CDA officials, this follows an earlier training program carried out in July, in which Blue Sky Rescue Foundation trained CDA staff in high-flow rescue operations and boat handling.
The addition of the new kits is expected to further boost Islamabad’s disaster-response readiness.
CDA and the foundation have agreed to soon sign a formal memorandum of understanding to expand their collaboration, including more training and provision of modern rescue gear.
The foundation currently operates in over 20 countries, underscoring the international scope of the partnership.
As storms, floods, and flash-flood risks persist in many parts of Pakistan, the transfer of these rescue kits and the strengthening of local emergency response capacities come at a crucial time.
