Chief Minister Khyber of Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, taking serious notice of public complaints on Tuesday, announced a complete ban on the use of mobile phones during duty hours by hospital administration, government school teachers, and all government employees. He issues the directives during a surprise late night visit to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) here. The CM listened to complaints from patients and their attendants regarding poor administration and lack of attention by hospital staff.
According to the CM House spokesperson, citizens complained that patients are left unattended for long periods, while hospital administration and staff remain busy using mobile phones during duty hours, causing serious difficulties in treatment and patient care. The CM warned that negligence in public service due to mobile phone use would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He appealed to the public to report violations by recording videos of doctors or staff members using mobile phones while on duty and sending them to the authorities for immediate action.
“You send the complaint, the rest is my responsibility,” he said, adding that a complaint cell is being activated to ensure swift redressal of public grievances. He also directed the hospital administration to ensure the immediate provision of quality medical facilities to patients and warned that strict action would be taken against those found negligent in their duties. The CM reiterated that improving healthcare services and restoring public trust in government institutions remain top priorities of his government.
