The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted seven operations across the country on Wednesday and arrested seven suspects, including a woman, and recovered 502.91 kilograMS(kgs) of narcotics worth more than Rs 39.8 million.According to an ANF spokesman, as part of operations near educational institutions, ANF recovered 1.2 kgs of hashish from a suspect near a university in Hayatabad, Peshawar. The accused later confessed to supplying drugs to students of educational institutions.
In an international drug interdiction operation at Islamabad International Airport, officials recovered 1.582 kgs of ecstasy pills concealed in a calcium box from the possession of a female passenger travelling to Dubai. In another operation near Jinnah International Airport, ANF recovered 3.9 kgs of ice concealed in clothing from a parcel destined for Saudi Arabia.
Separately, officials at a courier office at Islamabad Airport seized 310 grams of heroin from a parcel bound for the United Kingdom. Under domestic drug interdiction operations, ANF recovered 18 kgs of opium from a vehicle near a petrol pump on Ring Road in Peshawar and arrested two suspects. Near Chungi No. 26 in Islamabad, officials seized 1.2 kgs of hashish and 200 grams of ice from two suspects.
In another operation near Faizpur in Lahore, ANF recovered 22.8 kgs of hashish, two kgs of opium and 700 grams of ice from a suspect. Meanwhile, a major operation near Turbat in District Kech led to the recovery of 451 kgs of hashish, the spokesman said. Cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA) 1997, while further investigations are underway.
