A women-only Ramzan Mena Bazaar opened on Wednesday evening at Gwadar Development Authority’s Model Beach Park, attracting large crowds of women and children on its first day. Organised with support from the district administration and the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), the market will remain open until Chand Raat, offering women a dedicated and secure space to shop and run businesses, Gwadar Pro reported quoting a GDA's statement issued early on Thursday.
Special arrangements were made, including extra lighting for evening operations, solar power facilities, enhanced cleaning measures and security provisions to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for visitors. Officials said the women-only setting had helped create a more relaxed shopping environment, allowing visitors to browse and buy freely.
The initiative aims to support women’s economic empowerment by giving emerging entrepreneurs a platform to showcase and expand their businesses. Stalls are offering a range of Eid-related goods, including women’s and children’s clothing, cosmetics, jewellery, mehndi, footwear and food items, at competitive prices. A children’s funfair has also been set up inside the park, with rides and other recreational activities.
