PSDP: Federal govt spends Rs91.9bn during July-Nov period of FY2025-26

The federal government utilized Rs91.91 billion under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) during the first five months (July–November) of the Fiscal Year 2025-26, reports Wealth Pakistan, quoting the latest data released by the Planning Ministry.

The total PSDP allocation for 2025-26 stands at Rs1,000,000.00 million. During the July-November period, the government authorized Rs348,974.12 million, while the actual expenditure amounted to Rs91,905.84 million, indicating around 26 percent utilization of authorized funds during the period.

Under the federal ministries’ head, the total allocations amounted to Rs682,262.37 million, with Rs237,765.95 million authorized and expenditure of Rs68,411.25 million. Several key ministries accounted for a significant share of development spending during the period.

Among the ministries, the Water Resources Division, which holds the largest allocation of Rs128,898.98 million, utilized Rs14,914.02 million against an authorization of Rs45,114.64 million, reflecting continued progress on major water and hydropower projects.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) recorded an expenditure of Rs7,944.56 million from its total allocation of Rs41,658.48 million, with Rs15,742.76 million authorized. The Federal Education and Professional Training Division followed, spending Rs5,916.27 million out of an allocation of Rs18,580.00 million, with the authorized funds amounting to Rs6,503.00 million.

The Provinces and Special Areas Division utilized Rs19,588.31 million from its total allocation of Rs253,380.11 million, while the Railways Division reported an expenditure of Rs5,179.71 million against an allocation of Rs22,415.00 million and authorization of Rs7,845.25 million.

The Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Division utilized Rs5,358.62 million from its total allocation of Rs23,270.14 million, with authorized expenditure of Rs8,144.55 million, reflecting increased implementation activity during the review period. The Defence Division spent Rs1,168.32 million against an allocation of Rs11,909.03 million, while the authorized funds stood at Rs4,168.16 million.

Similarly, the Information Technology and Telecommunication Division utilized Rs2,258.42 million from its allocation of Rs16,227.49 million, with Rs5,679.62 million authorized, highlighting ongoing investments in digital infrastructure and connectivity.

The Housing and Works Division recorded an expenditure of Rs864.57 million against an allocation of Rs16,305.80 million and authorization of Rs1,857.03 million. Among the corporations, the total allocations amounted to Rs317,737.63 million, with Rs111,208.17 million authorized and Rs23,494.59 million expended during July-November.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) accounted for the bulk of corporate spending, utilizing Rs20,738.06 million from its total allocation of Rs226,981.85 million, while the Power Division (NTDC/PEPCO) spent Rs2,756.54 million against an allocation of Rs90,755.78 million.
