Punjab IGP reiterates zero tolerance on unlicensed driving Breaking

December 08, 2025

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has said that no compromise will be made on the protection of schoolchildren, stressing that driving without a valid licence is equivalent to inviting death and accidents.  The IG Punjab said driving without a licence is effectively a “license to kill,” something no country in the world permits.

He said strikes cannot be justified when school vans overturn, innocent children lose their lives, and no one is held accountable, adding that such conduct is unacceptable in any civilized society.  Dr. Usman Anwar said parents have consistently demanded reforms in this system, and it is essential to support positive measures taken on this critical public safety issue.

He reaffirmed that protecting the lives and property of citizens is the foremost responsibility of Punjab Police and that this duty will be performed without yielding to any pressure or strike.  He said a grace period is being provided, but vehicles kept off the road will not be allowed to operate and will be seized.

Since the matter concerns the safety of citizens, particularly children, strict responsibility must be exercised. The IG added that enforcement of the law is imperative and that the zero-tolerance policy against violations will continue.
