Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday inaugurated Pakistan’s first fully electric mechanical sweeper truck for road cleaning and washing, introducing an environment-friendly initiative to upgrade urban sanitation. During the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the vehicle and was briefed on its operational capabilities. The electric mechanical sweeper will initially be deployed along the Lahore Ring Road to perform road sweeping and washing operations.
The Chief Minister was informed that the electric sweeper-cum-broomer features standing water absorption technology, introduced for the first time in the country, and offers an operational range of up to 70 kilometers on a single charge. The zero-emission vehicle is designed to minimize dust and environmental pollution, operate with reduced noise levels, eliminate conventional fuel expenditures, and significantly decrease maintenance costs for sustainable city operations.
