An important legal development has emerged regarding the deteriorating health and eye condition of Bushra Bibi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, in the £190 million case. In this regard, Barrister Salman Safdar has submitted a written affidavit to the Islamabad High Court containing serious revelations about Bushra Bibi’s extremely critical eye condition. According to senior court reporter Saqib Bashir, Barrister Salman Safdar stated in his affidavit that Adiala Jail authorities had informed them on October 31 that his meeting with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had been scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on November 2.
The meeting began at 4 p.m. as scheduled and continued for approximately 40 minutes. During the meeting, he observed unusual changes in Bushra Bibi’s health. In the affidavit, Barrister Salman Safdar stated that Bushra Bibi was wearing dark black sunglasses during the meeting. When she removed them after repeated requests from him and Imran Khan, she appeared to be in severe distress. Bushra Bibi said her eye condition had deteriorated to such an extent that she could neither tolerate sunlight nor the artificial light in the room.
He further stated that, without the glasses, it had become impossible for her even to open her eyes. Bushra Bibi’s eye condition appeared extremely critical and alarming, indicating that her vision had been severely affected. On the occasion, PTI founder Imran Khan also appeared extremely concerned about his wife’s continuously deteriorating eyesight and health. Bushra Bibi said during the meeting that government doctors who visited the jail for her examination had diagnosed her condition as mature cataracts. According to the doctors’ instructions, she would need another eye operation around November 15 to prevent further damage.
Bushra Bibi expressed serious dissatisfaction with the poor cleanliness standards and medical facilities provided at Adiala Jail and requested the legal team to have her examination and all future treatment carried out by her personal, trusted doctors. Barrister Salman Safdar assured her that he would immediately raise the matter before the court, after which he formally made the affidavit part of the Islamabad High Court record.
