The death toll from an attack on a passenger convoy traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar in Pakistan’s Kurram district has risen to 49. Four more individuals succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total number of fatalities to 49. The convoy was ambushed in the lower Kurram area. The attack occurred on Thursday morning when a convoy of approximately 200 vehicles departed from Parachinar, the administrative headquarters of Kurram District, heading towards Peshawar and vice versa. Armed individuals opened fire indiscriminately on the passenger vehicles. Initially, the district administration reported 43 deaths and nine injuries. The victims included women. The latest update reflects the grim reality of the increased casualties. The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region and the vulnerability of civilian populations to such attacks.
