Owing to the prevailing regional maritime situation and ongoing tensions, commercial activities at Gwadar Port is on rise with another transshipment vessel berthing at the port and commencing cargo handling operations, Gwadar Pro reported on Tuesday.

According to details, the Bangladesh-flagged vessel M/V JAHAN BROTHERS II arrived at Gwadar Port on 18 July.

The ship sailed from Singapore carrying 53,064.660 metric tons of prime steel billets.

The cargo is ultimately destined for Al Hamriyah Port, United Arab Emirates.

The cargo will be temporarily discharged and stored at Gwadar Port before being reloaded onto another vessel for onward shipment to the UAE.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry stated that the continuation of commercial activities at Gwadar Port despite the current regional maritime situation reflects Pakistan's growing port capabilities and increasing confidence in its maritime sector.

He said the rise in transshipment operations highlights Gwadar Port's strategic location and its potential to serve as a key alternative trade gateway in the region.

The minister added that the Government of Pakistan remains committed to further strengthening port infrastructure, facilitating international shipping lines, and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of regional trade.

Chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority, Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, said that the uninterrupted continuation of port and commercial operations despite the prevailing regional maritime situation demonstrates that Gwadar Port is proving itself to be a safe, reliable, and efficient trade hub in the region.

He noted that the successful handling of transshipment cargo is further strengthening the confidence of international shipping lines in Gwadar Port while reinforcing its role as an important alternative trade route for regional commerce.

He emphasized that Gwadar Port remains fully committed to maintaining efficient port operations and facilitating regional trade.
