The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has approved the tender for the construction of a paved platform for fishermen’s boats on September 15 with the efforts of Gwadar MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, paving the way for the construction work to begin soon.
More than six local and national companies participated in tender process that continued for one month since August 15.
Tender sought professional credentials from companies asking them to come up with prequalification criteria laid down by competent authority, Gwadar Pro reported on Thursday.
HM firm, local company from Balochistan, won the tender meeting the standards protocols.
The development is being regarded as an important step toward resolving the difficulties fishermen face regarding ownership and the proper placement of their boats.
Meanwhile, 32 fishermen received documents for green fiber boats through a balloting process.
According to the scheme, 20 fishermen from Gwadar city, six from Surbandar and six from Pishukan were selected as beneficiaries through balloting.
Addressing the gathering, Hidayat-ur-Rehman said the initiative reflected Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s policy of strengthening the fisheries sector and improving economic opportunities for people dependent on fishing.
