“If steps are taken by G7 countries against China, the global economy will be affected. Because the interactions and linkages between G7 countries and China are very strong. The disturbance or any rupture in these relations will affect many countries,” said Dr. Rashid Ahmad Khan, a political analyst and an expert on South Asia, Central Asia and Persian Gulf security issues, according to Gwadar Pro on Friday.
After Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, the G7 group of industrialized nations and the European Union issued a statement full of accusations against China. In response, the spokesperson for the Chinese Mission to the EU mentioned that “gone are the days when the Chinese people were bullied and pushed around by foreign powers.
Taiwan affairs are purely China's internal affairs and are within the scope of China's sovereignty. Today’s world is no longer in an era when Western powers can run amok as they please.”
“It seems that the US has manipulated the G7 into toeing its line. As a result, the developed countries will suffer. if they talk about sanctions or steps against China or they lower the level of cooperation with China, it will affect them more in comparison to China,” said Rashid.
“Now, the US is facing difficulties of keeping European lives together. In order to keep Europe on its side, America is somehow fighting and quarreling with other powers. It mobilizes and forces Europe on them. European powers are constrained because Western Europe is still largely dependent on the United States economically and in terms of security,” Rashid said.
The United States and the European Union are going to work together to take concrete measures to reduce their dependence on Russian energy.
This means that a country that imported zero units of Russian natural gas has convinced the 27-country block, which rely on Russia for around 40 % of its gas demand, into cutting back on imports, According to Chinese broadcaster CGTN.
According to data from the International Energy Agency, the month of June has become the first month in history in which EU had imported more gas via LNG from the US than via pipeline from Russia. The EU is struggling with an energy crisis, while the US would certainly benefit from selling every unit of energy to its European allies.
“America pressurized European nations to take those steps to support Ukraine for which they were not ready. If G7 countries are forced to take steps against China by America, this will not only affect the economy of the G7 countries but also the western alliance system. How long will these countries sacrifice for America or will they remain under its pressure? Already there is resentment among the European countries with the US pressure on them to achieve its strategic objectives,” said Rashid.
“If we study the history of Chinese relationships with European powers in 18th and 19th century, then you will not find a single European country who did not establish its trade centers at the ports of China. If we go even more before this and look into the period of old times, then we will come to know that the emergence of the world in the present form was based on the relationships between China and Europe.
It is because China was a very big source of commodities since the beginning, which were utilized by Europe and other areas of the world.”
Now, over 170 countries and many international organizations have spoken up by reaffirming their commitment to the one-China principle and expressing support for China in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity, constituting an advantage over the US and its shortsighted alliance countries.
China-US relations have been deteriorating in recent years. “Considering that both China and the US are major superpowers, if there is cooperation between America and China, many problems facing the world, such as climate change, issue of food security and struggle of corona, can be solved,” Rashid analyzed, he added.
