A protest camp will be organized at Place de l Albertine near Central Train Station in Brussels, the capital of Belgium tomorrow, 5th August. The event would be organized by Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) in connection with the day of 5th August 2019, when by removing the articles 370 and 35A of its Constitution, the Modi-led Indian government repealed the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Since then, a number of Kashmiri leaders, political workers, human rights activists and journalists were arrested in the occupied territory and atrocities against the people of Kashmir have rapidly increased. The Chairman of Kashmir Council, EU, Ali Raza Syed in a statement in Brussels said the purpose of the protest camp is to highlight the brutalities against the people of Kashmir and other illegal acts committed by the Indian authorities in the occupied territory.
He urged the international community, including the United Nations and European Union to play their role for ending atrocities in IIOJK and implementation of the UN resolutions giving the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people. He also called for withdrawal of Indian forces and an end to Indian state terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Ali Raza Syed also called for unconditional release of all illegally detained Kashmiri political leaders and human rights activists, including Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Khurram Pervaiz. He also appealed to the international community to play its role for a peaceful resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute, adding participation of the Kashmiri leadership in all rounds of the peace process on Kashmir should be ensured.
