The video that went viral shows a young woman riding her scooter down a street in Lahore when a man on a motorcycle suddenly comes up behind her, grabs her phone, and speeds off. The girl tries to catch the suspect right away, but she loses control of her scooter and falls onto the road, where she gets hurt.
Even though the event shocked her, the young woman chose not to stay quiet. She made the choice to make a formal complaint to the police.
The victim said she never thought the police would respond so quickly. Police took action right away after the complaint was filed. The suspect, whose name is Adnan, was arrested in the Chung area of Lahore just a few hours later, even though he was hurt.
The victim said that at first, many of her family and friends told her to forget about it because it was "only a mobile phone" and no phone was worth risking her life for. But she thought the problem was bigger than the stolen phone.
She said that even though the crime happened to her today, it could happen to another girl tomorrow. She thought it was important to report the incident for that reason.
The young woman also praised the Lahore Police for their professionalism and cooperation throughout the process. She said both she and her family personally thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for ordering immediate and strict action after the case came to light.
According to the victim, she later spoke directly with Maryam Nawaz, who reassured her by saying, “You are like my daughter. What happened to you could happen to any girl in Lahore, which is why it is important that the accused is punished.”
The incident has become a strong example of how timely reporting and immediate law enforcement action can help address street crime. It also reflects the Punjab government’s growing focus on women’s safety under the vision of “Safe Women, Safe Society.”
For many people, the “Scooty Girl” case is not just about a stolen phone — it is about courage, accountability, and the importance of speaking up against crime.
