Finally, Apple makes its biggest iPhone move in years, but there’s a twist. Rather than unveiling the standard iPhone 18 with its Pro counterparts, Apple opted to spotlight only the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and its inaugural foldable iPhone, dubbed the iPhone Duo, during its September 2026 event.

The new model comes with Apple's A20 Pro processor, significant camera improvements, longer battery life, and new AI features. The Duo, in contrast, features a brand-new foldable design.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max: What's New?

The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max come with Apple’s new A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process. Apple has also improved thermal management with a new vapor chamber system, helping the phones stay performant during demanding tasks.

The biggest camera improvement is the new 48MP main camera with variable aperture. This allows the camera to control how much light enters the lens. This gives users more control over exposure, depth and low light photography. The phones also receive enhanced Pro camera controls and improved video features.

Both models run iOS 27 and Apple’s latest AI-powered Siri, with Apple emphasizing on-device processing and privacy.

What About The Normal iPhone 18?

This is perhaps the biggest shocker.

Apple didn't show off the standard iPhone 18 at its September event. Word has it that the base iPhone 18 is pushed to spring 2027, with an iPhone 18e and a new iPhone Air potentially joining the lineup.

iPhone Duo: Apple’s First Foldable Phone

The most eye-catching announcement was definitely the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable smartphone.

The Duo features a 5.4-inch outer display that folds open to an expansive 7.6-inch internal display, essentially providing a tablet-sized workspace in a phone-sized package. Both displays support ProMotion and high brightness.

The final price for Pakistani buyers will depend heavily on PTA taxes, storage capacity, currency exchange rates and local retailer margins. The iPhone 18 Pro is priced at Rs479,999 in the Pakistani market and the Pro Max at Rs619,999, but these are more market estimates than official Apple prices in Pakistan.

The Bottom Line

Apple’s iPhone strategy for 2026 is clearly different. iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are all about performance, cameras and AI, while the iPhone Duo is Apple’s biggest hardware redesign in years.
