Actor visits Bahadurabad protest over death of Wafflix owner Mir Raza Ali Public demands accountability over slow probe
The demand for justice for Mir Raza Ali, the owner of the Wafflix food chain, is growing louder, with celebrities now lending their voices to a campaign that has captured nationwide attention. The case has once again garnered attention with actor Shuja Asad attending a protest in Bahadurabad, Karachi over the weekend, highlighting the public’s anger at the slow pace of investigation into the tragic death of Ali on July 28.
Asad, along with fellow actor Azlan Shah, stood in solidarity with Ali’s family and friends and called for more actors, public figures and influencers to come on board the movement.
“It’s easy to post from the comfort of your home,” said Asad, who called on members of the entertainment industry to spend even 10 to 15 minutes attending the demonstrations. His remarks prompted quick response online, with many praising his move to join the protest.
The actor also complained that the investigation was going slowly. ‘Why was Wasim Akram’s lost dog found after such a long time, but the police did not find the killers of Ali so quickly?’ Asad asked. His comments ignited a broad social media discussion about priorities in law enforcement and the importance of increased accountability.
Actor Saboor Aly also came out in support and shared an Instagram post highlighting the difference in the quick reaction to the missing dog and the lack of progress in Ali’s case. Videos of the protest, meanwhile, showed tearful friends remembering Ali as a joyful, generous man whose wedding was just 20 days away.
The protests have now escalated to a broader call for transparency and accountability and immediate justice as police continue to investigate whether the death of Mir Raza Ali was a murder or suicide case. For many Pakistanis, the movement has transcended a single person and is about making sure every life gets the attention and justice it deserves.
