Sargodha Industrial Park represents a transformative initiative with far-reaching implications for the local economy. The park is poised to become a catalyst for the growth of small industries, with a particular focus on such sectors as furniture and citrus processing. In an interview with WealthPK, Raja Sohail Amjad, Vice-President Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industries, said that Industrial zones benefit the economy by attracting more foreign investment, speeding up the flow of modern technology, providing more job opportunities, raising skills and management standards, and providing exporters with a base for production in an environment free from import duties. “The imperative to transform Sargodha division into a mini economic and industrial zone has become increasingly apparent, aligning with the pressing need to bolster economic activities and provide essential facilities to the region,” he said.

Amjad highlighted the multifaceted benefits that will arise from the conversion of Sargodha into a mini-economic and industrial zone. He underscored the existing industrial prowess of the district, which is renowned for its handicrafts, citrus processing, agricultural machinery, and other industrial products. “The completion of the industrial park project is anticipated to usher in a wave of positive change, particularly in terms of employment generation. The strategic location of the park, coupled with the diverse industries it accommodates, is poised to become a significant source of livelihood for a large number of people in the region.”  “With approximately 3,500 cottage industries, small and medium enterprises and manufacturing units already operating in Sargodha, the completion of the project will likely amplify these numbers, providing a substantial boost to the employment opportunities.”

The Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industries Vice-president added that it would be the first mega project of small industries in Sargodha, which would encourage small investors and generate ample revenue from the industrial hub. “The industrial park offers the entrepreneurs uninterrupted power supply and 10-year tax exemption. The provision of a duty-free environment in the industrial zone is a key incentive for exporters.” “This will enable the manufacturers to produce goods without the burden of import duties on raw materials and components. It will enhance cost-effectiveness and make the Pakistani products more competitive in the international market,” he stated. He further said, “Many leading companies have already invested in this region, including Bestway Packaging (Pvt) Ltd, Wonder Bread, Shama Ghee, Sammi Pharma, and Oreal Ceramics. Furthermore, this SEZ can facilitate food processing units such as citrus grading jams, jellies, snacks, and cold storage.”
