Pakistan’s automobile sales rebounded sharply in June 2026, rising nearly 28% from the previous month as demand strengthened across all major vehicle categories.
According to the latest State Bank of Pakistan data, total sales of automobiles, excluding two- and three-wheelers, increased to 26,823 units in June from 20,990 in May, an increase of 5,833 units.
The June figure was the highest recorded during the six-month period from January to June 2026, narrowly exceeding the 26,661 vehicles sold in January. The latest increase also reversed the decline recorded in May, when sales had fallen from 25,663 units in April.
Jeeps and pickups provided the largest contribution to the monthly rebound. Their sales surged by 65.5% to 7,363 units in June from 4,449 in May, representing an increase of 2,914 vehicles.
This category alone accounted for almost half of the overall monthly increase in automobile sales, making it the main driver of the June recovery.
Car sales rose by 16.4% to 15,378 units from 13,211 in May. The addition of 2,167 cars represented around 37% of the overall increase. Combined, cars and jeeps and pickups accounted for about 87% of the monthly rise in sales.
Sales of trucks increased by 40.5% to 905 units from 644, while bus sales climbed by 68.6% to 118 units from 70. Although buses recorded the strongest percentage increase, their contribution remained comparatively small because of the category’s limited sales volume.
Tractor sales also improved, rising by 16.9% to 3,059 units in June from 2,616 in May. The June tractor figure was the highest of the six-month period, exceeding the 3,008 units sold in March.
The rise in sales was accompanied by a strong increase in vehicle production. Total production, excluding two- and three-wheelers, climbed by 25.4% to 24,438 units in June from 19,489 in May.
Car production increased by 28.9% to 15,209 units, while the production of jeeps and pickups rose by 32.8% to 5,687 units. Truck production grew by 16.6% to 738 units, and bus production increased by 15.3% to 83 units.
Tractor production remained broadly stable, edging up to 2,721 units from 2,703 in the previous month.
The much larger two- and three-wheeler segment also recorded growth, though at a more moderate pace. Sales increased by 3.5% to 178,508 units in June from 172,433 in May, while production rose by almost 4% to 177,210 units in June 2026 from 170,458 in the previous month.
The data show that the June improvement was broad-based rather than concentrated entirely in one vehicle category. However, the particularly strong contribution from jeeps, pickups and cars indicates that passenger and light commercial vehicles remained central to the latest increase in automobile activity.
