Non-resident Pakistanis (NRPs) can help significantly boost Faisalabad’s healthcare sector and create jobs through investments, paving the way for socioeconomic development. Dr Irfan, Secretary General of Pakistan Medical Association’s Faisalabad chapter and a specialist in medicine, talking to WealthPK said that NRPs can significantly uplift the current healthcare facilities by investing in the establishment of new hospitals, health centres, laboratories, and procurement of the latest equipment.

He highlighted that advanced diagnostic tools are crucial for accurately assessing the causes of diseases. “Such tools can help doctors provide effective treatment to patients.” He also stressed the importance of surgical instruments that meet global standards for ensuring the success and safety of surgical procedures. “However, modern hospitals and cutting-edge tools need heavy financial resources,” he said, adding the NRPs had the potential to pump the required funds into this sector.

Irfan noted that with the establishment of modern hospitals, funded by NRPs, burden on state-run hospitals in Faisalabad can be alleviated to a great extent. Besides, he said that state-of-the-art hospitals capable of meeting international standards have the potential to attract foreign patients. He acknowledged that an influx of foreign patients could not only boost the local economy but also position Pakistan as a prominent country for quality healthcare. Irfan said an advanced healthcare system can help Pakistan generate much-needed revenue.

He said that the existing health facilities in Faisalabad were insufficient to meet the health needs of a growing population. “By establishing modern healthcare facilities, we can effectively improve our healthcare system and ensure better health outcomes for patients.” He said numerous opportunities for investment in Faisalabad’s health sector were available to NRPs. He said their investment would not only revitalise the healthcare system but will also create jobs.

“We need jobs and an improved healthcare system because unemployment is causing extreme stress, leading to multiple health issues.”He said it’s a ripe time for NRPs to invest in the health sector of Faisalabad. “As a doctor, I can confidently say that without stable employment, we can’t improve the health and financial position of anyone,” he claimed. Irfan said that due to financial limitations, most healthcare facilities lacked modern equipment. He urged the government to actively encourage the NRPs to invest in the health sector of Pakistan.
