Kund Malir beach in Balochistan needs to be promoted strategically to turn it into a sustainable tourist hotspot and a great source of revenue generation. “Kund Malir beach is a pristine tourist attraction along the Makran coast. It is near to the Hingol National Park (home to rare flora and fauna), featuring sand dunes, Kund Malir Fort, mud volcanoes, iconic princess of hope rock formation, Buzi pass and the temple of Goddess Hinglaj,” pointed out Dawood Tareen, focal person of Tourism Department, Balochistan. Talking to WealthPK, he said that despite all the unique features, Kund Malir remains relatively unknown to people both inside and outside of Pakistan. “The tourism potential of Kund Malir beach is largely untapped due to limited and untargeted promotion at both national and international levels.” Tareen, however, said that initiatives had been taken to increase awareness locally about these tourist spots, especially beaches.

“Yet there is a dire need for the global outreach.” Tareen said, “With the right marketing approach, Kund Malir can easily get international focus. It is necessary to create opportunities for sustainable tourism development and job creation. Proper development of infrastructure to access the beaches is imperative to promote the coastal attractions to both domestic and foreign visitors.”  “In the recent years, tourism along the coastlines is trending. All the beach areas, including the Kund Malir beach, are direly in need of smooth infrastructure and amenities. The lack of facilities is deterring the long-stay tourism,” highlighted Mukhtar Ali, manager of facilitation centres of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation. Talking to WealthPK, he said with proper facilitation, Pakistani beaches could be used as good picnic spots, and fishing could also be included as a holiday activity under strict supervision to protect the aquatic life.

“Kund Malir is also surrounded by a multitude of tourist places, especially the Hingol National Park.” Ali said, “Proper promotion of beach tourism in the country will create new jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities, lead to establishment of different hospitality chains, revenue generation and socioeconomic uplift.” “A push to promote Kund Malir aligns with Pakistan’s broader vision for highlighting its diverse landscape and the variety of cultural heritage. It will also bring about awareness regarding the conservation of such natural assets as a source of ecological safety, earning and better environment,” Ali highlighted. He said it was high time the policymakers took concrete steps to promote the tourist spots, especially the Kund Malir and other beach areas.
