The AI-powered agent development industry is rapidly evolving in Pakistan, offering opportunities for information technology experts. Talking with WealthPK, Hamid Mehmood, an expert in machine learning, said, “AI is transforming every field of life, replacing human workers, as it proves its mettle by performing multiple tasks autonomously.” He explained that the developers and companies were working on everything from simple chatbots to complex systems that manage customer service, and data analysis. Besides, such agents are also being developed to handle industrial processes, he said.

“We have observed that the AI-powered agents are increasing efficiency, cutting operational costs, and providing personalized experiences for businesses. Their demand is surging, particularly in the customer service and e-commerce, where businesses can leverage the AI-powered agents for personalized recommendations and order management,” he said. Similarly, he predicted that the AI-powered agents will transform the financial sector and replace most human workers in fraud detection. Most importantly, education and healthcare are on the brink of a revolution due to the AI-powered agents.

In education, these agents can offer the students tailored curricula and real-time feedback, he said. “Instead of waiting for the teachers, the students will have easy access to virtual tutors backed by the AI-powered agents, ensuring 24/7 support and bridging geographical gaps,” he explained. He said that the AI agents in healthcare will assist physicians in streamlining diagnostics, analyzing medical images, and managing patient records efficiently.

Remote areas will also be brought into the loop of healthcare systems through AI-driven telemedicine platforms. These AI agents will help physicians extend healthcare access to the far-flung areas by offering virtual consultations and remote monitoring. By providing immediate medical advice to the residents of remote areas, he said the AI-powered agents will ease the burden on emergency services. Ahsan Ali, who runs a logistics business in the US, told WealthPK that his team members call drivers daily to book loads for various destinations.

“We have observed that most drivers, even in the US, are not well-educated. But these days, they are also wary of unknown callers. Before accepting our offers for load, they ask multiple questions to ensure they are speaking to a human, not a bot,” he said. He pointed out that sensing the value of the AI-powered agents, the companies had started integrating them instead of relying heavily on human resources. These AI agents are able to talk or chat instantly with customers without leaving them hanging, he added.

“In near future, human-operated call centers will disappear as the AI-powered agents will take over. Although the initial cost of these AI agents is high, they will be a blessing for the companies fed up with human errors and inefficiencies," he said. Highlighting the key factors behind the boom in the AI-powered agent development industry, Adnan Masood, a developer, said multiple drivers were at play. The rapid surge in AI tools and platforms is making development a walk in the park for developers. The businesses are waking up to the fact that the AI-powered agents offer a major competitive advantage, streamlining operations and cutting costs.

Besides, he noted that digital literacy was on the rise not only in developed nations but also in the developing and even poorer countries, creating a level playing field for AI adoption. He stressed that these agents could easily automate repetitive tasks, allowing businesses to keep their eyes on the prize – business growth – rather than getting bogged down in tedious assignments.
