Chinese tech firm pledges PKR 50 million grant for Kohsar University, Murreeتازترین

Guangdong CAS Cogniser Information Technology Co., Ltd. of China has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kohsar University Murree (KUM), pledging a PKR 50 million grant to establish a joint research and innovation laboratory, the university announced. The agreement was signed by Kohsar University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz and Dr. Wu Jun, founder of the Chinese technology firm, on Friday, according to an official statement from KUM, Gwadar Pro reported on Monday.

As per the statement, the collaboration aims to expand applied research, strengthen academia-industry linkages, and support technology development for students and faculty. The partnership will also include industrial exhibitions and hands-on training workshops to help graduates develop market-relevant skills. Dr. Wu reaffirmed the company’s commitment to provide the PKR 50 million grant as part of the partnership.

Dr. Mumtaz said the agreement reflects growing global opportunities for Pakistani students through international cooperation and will help position KUM as a center for innovation and research excellence. According to KUM, in May 2023, the university signed an MoU with Lanzhou University of China to cooperate in research and development, technology transfer, and cultural exchange under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
