Compared with the last few days, the weather was bit pleasant in Lahore on Saturday morning as hide and seek continued between clouds and sun, while weathermen predicted that fifth spell of monsoon rains would enter the city and upper parts of the country on August 13. It was 31 degrees Celsius in the morning while the maximum temperature was expected to reach 37 degrees Celsius later in the day. The Met Office forecast dry weather for the city in the next 24 hours. The air quality index (AQI) in the city was recorded at 85. Drizzle forecast for Karachi It was partly cloudy in Karachi in the morning.
The temperature was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius while it was expected to go up to 31 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. The humidity level in the city was recorded at 83 per cent. The weather department predicted drizzle for the port city during the next 24 hours. Met Office forecasts more monsoon rains The weather department, on the other hand, forecast more monsoon rains for the upper parts of the country and parts of Balochistan between August 13 and August 16.
Advising the concerned departments to remain on a high alert, the Met Office said that moist currents from the Arabian Sea were penetrating upper parts of the country. “While westerly winds will also start impacting the upper and northern parts from August 13,” it said, adding, “The entry of these winds will produce showers in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Murree, Rawalpindi and Islamabad and upper parts of Punjab.”
Elaborating further, the Met Office said that rains were expected in different parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) between August 14 and August 16. Similarly, it forecast rains accompanied by strong winds for Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Musakhel, Barkhan, Zhob and Kalat on August 15 and August 16.
It further said that heavy rains were expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore and Gujranwala divisions on August 14 and August 15 due to which low-lying areas in these cities were likely to get flooded,” the weather department said, adding, “Landslide was feared in mountainous areas of Murree, AJK, GB and KP.”
