Refusing to support Pakistan’s ballistic missile programme, Spokesperson for the United States (US) Department of State Matthew Miller said on Tuesday that it had been the USA’s policy for a long time now. Speaking at a press briefing, he said that the USA’s reservations over Pakistan’s ballistic missile programme were quite clear. Miller further said that the US was committed to taking action against the networks that supported the spread of weapons of mass destruction and was also in favour of strengthening the system developed for the purpose. He went on to say that Pakistan had been the US’s long-term partner. On the other hand, while refuting the allegations that the US was behind the pager explosions in Lebanon, the spokesperson said neither it was involved nor had any idea who was behind these explosions. Miller said even the US wanted the incident to be probed. He stressed the need for the resolution of disputes between Israel and Lebanon at a diplomatic level.
