Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting in Lahore on Wednesday to review law and order situation in the province during the holy month of Rabiul Awwal. Maryam Nawaz also approved a grant of Rs1 billion for the provincial police force. During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the police officials to personally contact Ulema and scholars. The participants of the meeting also considered to establish new checkposts in the border areas of the province. The chief minister directed to immediately provide bulletproof vehicles and jackets to the police personnel. Maryam Nawaz directed to arrange state-of-the art training for the police force. It was decided during the meeting that police personnel will be equipped with bodycam during their duty hours.
She further directed to take effective measures against possession of illegal weapons. Chief Minister Maryam said that security of general public is the top priority of her government. She said every possible step will be taken in this regard. She directed police officials to take action against the persons who are involved in criminal activities without any delay and without fear. She directed police officials to use all available resources for safety and security of the people. Maryam Nawaz declared that stern action will be taken against those who attacked police checkposts in the province. The chief minister directed police personnel to enhance patrolling in their areas. During the meeting it was decided that police personnel will not use social media during duty hours.
