Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan asked the party to cancel its public rally scheduled in Rawalpindi on September 28. Interacting with media in Adiala Jail, the PTI founder said that he was well aware of the fact that the government will intercept the PTI’s power show. Imran Khan directed the party to withdraw the application submitted for seeking permission to hold rally. However, he said that PTI would stage protest in Rawalpindi on the announced day. “We’ll hold protests in Rawalpindi while the lawyers’ forum of party will protest outside the Supreme Court,” said Imran Khan.
It should be mentioned here that the PTI had earlier submitted a request to hold a rally in Rawalpindi on September 28. The application was filed by PTI District President Chaudhry Ameer Afzal and District General Secretary, accompanied by a team of lawyers, at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The request stated that PTI is the largest political party in the country and that holding a peaceful rally was a constitutional and legal right of every political party. PTI had proposed Liaquat Bagh and Bhata Chowk as potential venues for the rally.
