Imran Khan transferred back to jail after doctors declare him medically fit: TararBreaking

Federal Foreign Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Friday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was taken to hospital for a detailed medical examination under appropriate security arrangements following a Supreme Court decision. In a statement shared on X, Tarar said Khan was taken to the hospital during the night between August 20 and 21, 2026.

He said a team of qualified doctors, including specialists in ophthalmology, cardiology and general medicine, conducted a comprehensive examination of the former prime minister and declared him medically fit. Tarar said Khan’s sister, Uzma Khan, remained present throughout the medical examination and treatment process. After the medical procedures were completed, Khan was transferred back to Adiala Jail at around 5:00am on August 21, the minister said.

Earlier, sources said the government early Friday sent former prime minister Imran Khan back to Adiala Jail from Shifa Hospital, where he was brought for a medical checkup late Thursday night. According to jail sources, Khan was taken back to his cell by the police under tight security. He was shifted to the hospital under tight security. Also, large contingents of police were deployed outside the hospital for security. Sources said that arrangements had been finalised for the PTI founder's treatment at the hospital and a team of doctors had been formed for his medical examination.
