A policeman was martyred in an encounter with dacoits in village Sultan in the suburbs of Lahore, in the jurisdiction of Sundar police station on Wednesday. Sources in the police told that the deceased had been identified as Muhammad Nazir, who was an ASI in the Force and was posted at Chuhng police station. Nazir, they said, carried out a raid for the arrest of a dacoit, who was also a proclaimed offender, which led to an encounter with the outlaw and his accomplices. The ASI was wounded in an encounter, they said, adding he was shifted to Sharif Medical Complex where he succumbed to his injuries. Punjab IGP takes notice of incident On the other hand, Punjab IGP Dr. Usman Anwar, while paying homage to Nazir, has sought a report from the CCPO Lahore. He has also ordered the DIG Operations Lahore to ensure the immediate arrest of dacoits.
“The ASI laid down his life while performing his duty,” the IGP said, adding, “The police department will never forget his sacrifice.” The IGP also vowed to ensure the well-being of the martyred official’s family. The spokesman for the Punjab Police has said that the deceased belonged to the Organized Crime Unit, Chuhng. Cop involved in ‘smuggling’ arrested Police in Batapur area of Lahore arrested a constable for allegedly being involved in the smuggling of narcotics to India. Police said that Ihsan Ali, the cop, who was deputed at Punjab Constabulary Abbas Lines, used to smuggle narcotics to the neighbouring country via drones and was caught red-handed. The Force further said that a case had been registered against Ihsan on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Rizwan Ali and the hunt had been launched for the arrest of his partners in crime.
