Chairman of SUPARCO, Muhammad Yousuf Khan has announced the nuccessful test of the PakSat MM-1 satellite, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s space program. In his address during the successful test ceremony of PakSat MM-1, Chairman Khan highlighted that the project, which began in 2001 with the launch of PakSat, is now progressing with the MM-1 satellite, and plans are underway for the MM-2 launch in the coming years. He emphasized that SUPARCO is aligned with the government's Digital Pakistan vision and plays a crucial role in various developmental sectors including food security and forestry. The recent approval of Pakistan's Space Policy is expected to enhance service delivery in the space sector.
Minister of State for Information Technology, Shiza Fatima, congratulated the SUPARCO team for their round-the-clock efforts to launch MM-1. She acknowledged the challenge of formulating Pakistan’s first National Space Policy, noting its potential to bring numerous benefits. Highlighting the importance of connectivity, she pointed out that no sector can advance without it, with the internet being the primary means of connectivity. Minister Fatima further discussed the challenges of extending internet access to rural areas in Pakistan, stressing that PakSat MM-1 could play a pivotal role in improving connectivity. She emphasized that digitalization in education and healthcare could bring about a revolutionary change in Pakistan, a goal that has eluded the country for the past seven decades.
