As part of ongoing efforts to revive the national economy, the government has intensified a nationwide crackdown on smuggling. This initiative targets key commodities such as flour, sugar, fertilizer, and oil, aiming to alleviate the severe shortages faced by the public. From September 1 to 8, authorities seized a substantial amount of smuggled goods across the country. This includes 126.4 metric tons of sugar, 4 metric tons of flour, 3,252 cartons of cigarettes, 58 rolls of fabric, and 0.959 million liters of Iranian oil. In Karachi, 1,098 cartons of cigarettes were confiscated, while 2,154 cartons were seized in Quetta.
Additionally, 120 metric tons of sugar and 6.4 metric tons of flour were recovered in Multan, along with 0.002 million liters of Iranian oil, and 10 rolls of fabric. In Quetta, 0.893 million liters of Iranian oil and 48 rolls of fabric were also seized. Since the crackdown began on September 1, authorities have managed to recover 13,088.75 metric tons of fertilizer, 3,470.106 metric tons of flour, 35,091.71 metric tons of sugar, 4,337,251 cartons of cigarettes, 151,292 rolls of fabric, and 16.636 million liters of Iranian oil. The concerned agencies remain committed to their anti-smuggling operations as part of broader efforts to stabilize and strengthen the national economy.
