LHC directs for complete record of PNI List in travel ban caseBreaking

October 01, 2024

The Lahore High Court has asked for the full record of the Provisional National Identification (PNI) List, which is being used to prevent citizens from traveling abroad. The case was heard by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, following a petition filed by citizen Muneer Ahmed. The petitioner argued that the PNI List has no legal standing, emphasizing that only the Passport Control List (PCL) and Exit Control List (ECL) are recognized by law for restricting travel. During the hearing, the court questioned whether the individuals on the list were criminals or political figures, and sought the names included in the PNI List. The Punjab government's lawyer was directed to submit the complete record within 10 days.
