In a significant political development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur held his first official meeting with KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, who has accepted an invitation to participate in the upcoming Grand Jirga at the Chief Minister’s House. The Governor canceled all engagements in Islamabad to prioritize this meeting, underscoring the importance of the discussions that will take place. The Grand Jirga aims to address critical issues including the province's law and order situation and the activities of the Pashtun Protection Movement (PTM). The event follows consultations with parliamentary leaders from various political parties and will feature a joint session of government and opposition members.
Chief Minister Gandapur expressed optimism about finding a peaceful resolution to ongoing challenges and noted that Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is expected to join the discussions in Peshawar. A special committee has been formed to tackle these issues, initiated by Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam. This committee will consist of representatives from both the government and the opposition, with its first meeting scheduled at the Assembly Secretariat. As the Grand Jirga approaches, all eyes will be on the discussions that could shape the future of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid ongoing security concerns.
