The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution regarding hike in the salaries of police personnel in the province. The resolution moved by JUI member Makdoom Zada highlighted the risks faced by police officers in combating terrorism and pointed out the disparity in salaries compared to those in Punjab and Islamabad. Aligning police salaries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with those in the neighboring regions was recommended in the resolution. In another resolution moved by MPA Ijaz Khan, it was urged to address public transportation concerns. He emphasized the success of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system but noted the lack of adequate public transportation on other routes.
The resolution called for the provincial government to introduce new BRT routes on Kabir Road, Warsak Road, and Shah Alam Bridge to Naguman Road. During the session, some resolutions were presented without prior notice, leading to objections from government members who argued that such practices hinder informed decision-making. Speaker Babar Saleem Swati said that resolutions lacking advance notice might not be included in the proceedings unless deemed urgent after consulting the relevant minister. Earlier, Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam introduced the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mines and Minerals (Amendment) Bill, which was also discussed during the assembly session.
