JI lashes out at ruling coalition for striking a deal on constitutional amendmentBreaking

October 17, 2024

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Naib Emir Liaqat Baloch on Thursday slammed the stalwarts of major political parties for striking an unjust deal in the name of agreement on much-touted constitutional amendment. In a statement, Baloch wondered why Prime Minister Shehbaz was being blackmailed by his coalition partners to go ahead with constitutional amendment. Baloch went on to say that proposed constitution amendment was based on malicious intent, adding that it would pave way for horse-trading and add to political instability. Speaking about the government’s hints of normalization of relations with India after successful completion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Islamabad in which Indian Minister of External Affairs Jay Shankar also represented India, Baloch said that the JI rejected normalisation of relations with India by hiding behind the SCO summit.
