Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Chief, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has strongly opposed the extension of service terms for the Army Chief and Supreme Court judges, labeling the move as unconstitutional and undemocratic. In a press conference at Mansoorah, Hafiz Naeem criticized the current process of constitutional amendments, claiming it undermines parliamentary authority and turns legislators into mere rubber stamps. He accused the government of attempting to force through amendments by coercing parliament members. Rehman also condemned the government's attempts to manipulate judicial appointments and criticized past privatization policies initiated by the PPP, which he argued led to the destruction of public institutions and increased corruption.
He questioned the legitimacy of privatizing public assets and warned against the exploitation by private sectors, specifically pointing out the issues with IPPs (Independent Power Producers). He emphasized that the privatization of schools and public services is detrimental to the public and vowed that Jamaat-e-Islami would not support such measures. Rehman demanded transparency and accountability in handling public assets and legal matters related to IPPs.
