The Islamabad High Court has signaled its intent to initiate contempt of court proceedings in response to the non-recovery of the two missing brothers of social media activist Azhar Mashwani. During a hearing presided over by Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb, the court reviewed the petition filed by Azhar Mashwani's father, seeking the recovery of his sons, Professor Mazhar Al Hasan and Professor Zahoor Al Hasan. Prominent lawyer Babar Awan represented the family in court. The Assistant Attorney General informed the court that reports from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior had already been submitted, but security agencies stated they had no information on the whereabouts of the missing brothers.

Expressing strong displeasure, Justice Aurangzeb summoned the Defense Secretary, Interior Secretary, IG Islamabad, and the Director General of the FIA to appear in person. The judge further warned that contempt of court proceedings would be initiated against all parties involved if they failed to provide satisfactory explanations. The court has adjourned the hearing until August 15. It is noteworthy that in a previous hearing, the Islamabad High Court had ordered the immediate recovery of the two missing brothers and their presentation before the court.
