Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has the right to question the government’s policy, his brother, Engineer Ziaur Rehman, has said. Speaking on Samaa TV programme 'Mere Sawal with Absar Alam', Ziaur Rehman said Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statements represented the position of the entire party and had been made after careful consideration. He said Maulana Fazlur Rehman was not angry and had maintained his position on terrorism. He added that the Fazlur Rehman had urged the government not to impose the governor’s rule.

Ziaur Rehman said that the government representatives had repeatedly visited Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He said that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was present at one of the meetings. He said the Fazlur Rehman’s remarks about the martyrs had been taken out of context. Referring to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Rana Sanaullah’s remarks, Ziaur Rehman said Sanaullah had stated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman had made no such statement, Ziaur Rehman reiterated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman remained firmly opposed to terrorism.
