The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the by-election schedule for the PP-139 constituency in Ferozewala, following the seat's vacancy due to the passing of PML-N MPA Rana Afzaal Hussain. According to the election commission's schedule, nomination papers will be available for collection on October 18. Candidates are required to submit their nomination papers between October 21 and 24. The final list of candidates, along with their assigned election symbols, will be released on November 12. The by-election in PP-139 is set to take place on Thursday, December 5. The seat became vacant after the demise of PML-N's Rana Afzaal Hussain, a seasoned politician and former member of the Punjab Assembly.
In the February general election this year, Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain had been elected from the same constituency. He vacated the seat after which a by-election was held that Rana Afzaal won. He had bagged 48,850 votes against PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council’s Ejaz Hussain Bhatti, who managed to secure 30,122 votes. TLP candidate Rafaqat Ali secured 4,809 votes. District Returning Officer Shahid Imran Marth, along with Returning Officer Usman Jalees and Assistant Returning Officer Adeel Khan, have been appointed to oversee the by-election process in PP-139.
