September 20, 2024

Cyber-attacks on young online gamers have surged by 30% in the first half of 2024, targeting 132,000 users, according to a recent report by cyber security firm Kaspersky. The report highlights a worrying trend from January to June 2024, where cybercriminals increasingly aimed at youth engaged in popular online games. Between July 2023 and June 2024, the company recorded 6.6 million cyber-attacks, with a significant portion focused on children and teenagers playing games like Minecraft and Roblox. The report further reveals that hackers primarily exploit game mods and chat functions to launch their attacks, making these platforms particularly vulnerable.
