Crackdown against shopkeepers involved in overpricing continueBreaking

In a crackdown against overpricing, the district administration has arrested 14 people for violating the official rates. According to the district administration spokesperson on Friday, 2,352 places were checked and a Rs 700,000 fine was imposed on 125 violations. Assistant Commissioner (AC) Raiwind Zainab Tahir visited different areas to check the prices of commodities and sealed a shop for selling items at exorbitant rates. She also arrested three shopkeepers for not displaying the rate list prominently. The AC Shalimar Anam Fatima visited Tehsil Shalimar vegetable and fruit market to check the rate card display and rate lists.

She directed the representative of the market committee to install a digital rate board at the entrance of the market. Similarly, the AC Model Town Sahibzada Yusuf paid a surprise visit to Rairhi Bazar (handcart) on Peco Road, accompanied by ZOR Gulberg. The Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider said that fines are being imposed on the sellers for not displaying the rate list prominently. She said that all possible steps are being taken for the convenience of the citizens under the Chief Minister Punjab Relief Programme.
