Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has approved a significant budget of rs. 1.5 billion for the repair and construction of roads in Karachi, following extensive damage caused by recent rains. In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shah, it was revealed that over 17.8 million square feet of roads across Karachi's seven districts require patchwork due to rain damage. The Chief Minister emphasized that the Sindh government had previously repaired and constructed roads after the 2022 rains and continued to provide funds for maintenance to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Karachi Development Authority (KDA). Shah instructed an inquiry into the poor quality of road repairs and demanded strict action against those responsible for substandard work. He also directed that any road construction should include proper drainage systems and service lines.
