Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Cases, chaired by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, on Monday approved proposed amendments to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Act, 1974, Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), 1860, Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1898 and Civil Servants Act, 1973, subject to incorporation of necessary amendments and recommendations. Senior officials from the relevant ministries, departments and divisions attended the meeting. 

The committee reviewed in detail various legal and administrative matters placed before it and directed the concerned ministries to incorporate the required amendments and recommendations.The proposed amendments to the FIA Act, 1974 were approved subject to incorporation of the committee’s recommendations and necessary amendments. Similarly, the committee approved the proposed amendments to the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 and Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, subject to incorporation of necessary amendments and recommendations. 

The committee also approved the proposed amendments to the Civil Servants Act, 1973, subject to incorporation of necessary amendments. The committee deferred consideration of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (Amendment) Bill, 2026, while approving the proposed amendments to the Immigration Rules, 1979. The committee also decided to withdraw the proposal to increase fines for overloading under the National Highways Safety Ordinance, 2000.
