Punjab Chief Maryam Nawaz has said that approval to the mass marriage programme by the provincial government is a historical move. The chief minister on Tuesday chaired the 17th session of the provincial cabinet during which the government approved the marriages of 3000 women from the poor families. Under the programme, the brides would get Rs100,000 besides items including furniture, dresses and dinner sets as a gift. The session apart from the said development also witnessed deliberations over the electric taxi system in Punjab. The CM was briefed that 680 electric buses would be operational by the end of this year. The chief executive of the province also directed the strict monitoring to control the rates of flour and chicken.
