ANF arrests eight, seizes over 6.6 tons of drugs in nationwide crackdownBreaking

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested eight suspects, including an Afghan national, and seized more than 6.6 tons of narcotics in nine operations carried out near educational institutions and across several cities, an ANF spokesperson said on Friday. The recovered drugs were valued at over Rs 508.9 million, the spokesperson said, adding that cases had been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and investigations were underway.

In an operation near Chungi No. 26 in Islamabad, authorities recovered 9.6 kg of hashish from a suspect who later confessed to selling drugs to students of educational institutions. ANF officials also seized 150 grams of cannabis concealed in a vape cartridge from a parcel arriving from the United Kingdom at a courier office in Rawalpindi’s Chaklala Garrison. In Lahore, 5 kg of methamphetamine and 5 kg of opium hidden in a tandoor were recovered from a parcel bound for the UK, leading to the arrest of the accused.

The force further recovered 10 kg of heroin from a vehicle near a madrasa on Hub River Road in Karachi, while 4 kg of methamphetamine and 250 grams of opium were seized from two suspects in Shah Rukn-e-Alam Colony, Multan. Other seizures included 2.4 kg of hashish near Turkai Toll Plaza, 600 grams of hashish near Padi Bangla in Gilgit, and 300 grams of methamphetamine from an Afghan national near Karkhano Market on Jamrud Road in Peshawar. In Balochistan’s Nokundi area, ANF teams recovered 6,571 kg of hashish hidden in bushes.
