In a dramatic development, Alima Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has accused Maryam Nawaz and elements within the establishment of orchestrating the transfer of judges to impede her brother's legal battles. Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court, Aleema Khan claimed that these moves are part of a larger strategy to undermine Imran Khan and his party. Imran Khan, who is currently facing multiple legal challenges, has reportedly downplayed concerns about his personal situation. He has emphasized that the primary issue at hand is the broader struggle for justice and democratic freedom. "The justice system requires every attendance to be met, and despite efforts to return my mandate, we were deceived as all judges of the Anti-Terrorism Court were replaced," Imran Khan said. According to Aleema Khan, the court recently summoned the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, who was reportedly unavailable. Aleema Khan warned that if the DIG fails to appear in court, the judge could issue an arrest warrant. She criticized the current judicial processes, claiming that they are being manipulated to extend Imran Khan’s detention and suppress PTI’s political activities.
The PTI founder's legal team is reportedly facing significant hurdles, with the court's refusal to grant bail further exacerbating the situation. There are also rumors that Imran Khan might be transferred to a military jail, which has raised questions about the motivations behind such a move. In addition to the ongoing issues in the Anti-Terrorism Court, the court is handling several other high-profile cases involving alleged vandalism and violence. These include incidents such as the burning of political party offices and police vehicles. The court, presided over by Judge Arshad Javed, has issued orders for investigating officers to appear and record statements from the accused. Interim bail was granted to several PTI leaders, including Aleema Khan and Azmi Khan, as well as other prominent party members like Fawad Chaudhry, Azam Khan Swati, Musrat Jamshed Cheema, Hafiz Farhat Abbas, and Karamat Ali Khokhar. The accused are facing charges related to multiple incidents of violence and property damage, including the burning of containers and police vehicles at various locations.
