Pakistani scholars exchange research insights at RADAR 2026Breaking

October 21, 2026

Pakistani scholars took part in the 2026 CIE International Conference on Radar (RADAR 2026) held in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China, as the event in the field drew experts from 29 countries and regions and set new records for submissions and attendance.

The conference was organized by the Radar Society of CIE, National Key Laboratory of Radar Signal Processing, Xidian University.

As a top-tier international academic conference on the radar that rotates among China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Australia, this marked the ninth time China has hosted the series, Gwadar Pro reported on Wednesday.

Pakistani participants, including Sana Akbar, a PhD scholar in Information and Communication Engineering and Ilham Ali, a master’s student in Optical Engineering, both from Xidian University, said they gained exposure to international research developments in radar technology, electronic systems and advanced engineering.

As international research scholars at the conference, they exchanged research insights, engaged in academic discussions and explored potential collaborations with international experts.

They also attended presentations by leading scientists and gained valuable insights into advanced radar technologies and future research opportunities.

“Our participation as Pakistani female scholars also highlighted the increasing role of women in science, technology, engineering, and research, particularly in advanced technical disciplines,” they said.

The conference featured seven core thematic forums and 14 specialized sub-sessions covering antenna and microwave technology, intelligent radar signal processing, integrated sensing and communication, radar imaging, and radar system applications.

Discussions delved into frontier topics including intelligent sensing in complex scenarios, radar system optimization, anti-jamming, AI-enabled radar, cognitive radar, maritime object detection, and multi-source imaging fusion.

A total of 1,520 academic papers were submitted from 12 countries and regions, including China, Italy, Romania, Iran, South Africa, France, the Netherlands and Singapore. Over the three-day event, formats included keynote speeches, invited session presentations, oral presentations and poster sessions to showcase original innovations and key technology breakthroughs in radar and build a platform for global sharing of radar technological achievements and academic exchange.

“The participation of our scholars from Pakistan and other countries underscored the conference’s role as a bridge connecting radar researchers across Asia and beyond, with Xidian University serving as a key institutional hub for international academic collaboration in radar science,” said the Pakistani scholars.
