The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has launched a comprehensive six-week internship and professional training program for students of the University of Gwadar, aimed at equipping young graduates with practical skills and workplace experience in key development sectors.
The program, organized by GDA’s Human Resource Management Department, is being attended by 16 male and female students from the University of Gwadar.
The initiative is being conducted under the directives of GDA Director General Moin-ur-Rehman Khan as part of efforts to strengthen youth engagement and capacity-building in the coastal city, Gwadar Pro reported.
According to Deputy Director Human Resource Management Nazar Muhammad, the internship offers hands-on exposure to a range of departments, including Information Technology, Finance, Administration and Environment, enabling participants to gain practical knowledge of public sector operations.
As part of the training activities, students attended a specialized session on climate change, environmental sustainability and adaptation strategies in Balochistan’s coastal areas.
The session was delivered by Deputy Director Environment Abdul Rahim and Horticulture Expert Hummal Dashti at the GDA Conference Hall.
Photos from the training show students participating in an interactive presentation on climate change impacts in Pakistan and Balochistan, climate risk indicators, marine ecosystems, fisheries resources and environmental challenges affecting coastal communities.
The presentation also highlighted adaptation measures and recommendations for sustainable development along the Makran coast.
In addition to classroom-based learning, the internship includes field visits to mangrove plantation sites, fish harbor and fish processing facilities, sewage treatment plants, parks and sports infrastructure projects.
The visits are designed to familiarize students with real-world working environments and development initiatives underway in Gwadar.
