A significant project to solarize building of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) is on the anvil as a review meeting was held in GDA office under the chairmanship of Director General Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Muin ur Rehman Khan here. The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer GDA Haji Syed Muhammad, Director Town Planning Shahid Ali, and other senior officers, according to a report carried by Gwadar Pro on Friday.
During the meeting, Executive Engineer (Electrical) Sajjad Zahid presented a detailed briefing on the office’s current electricity requirements and the proposed transition to solarization. He informed the participants that the GDA office’s total electricity requirement is approximately 180 kilowatts, and a proposal to shift to a hybrid solar system is under consideration. The estimated total cost of the project is around PKR 50 million.
The briefing also included a comparative analysis of the costs of electricity supplied through the grid and via generators, as well as a detailed assessment of the financial impact on the institution in the event of solarization. On the occasion, the Director General GDA stated that the primary objectives of solarizing the office are to curb unnecessary expenditures, promote alternative and renewable energy sources, and ensure continuity in power supply.
It was decided in the meeting that further technical and financial analyses of the solarization project would be completed. After reviewing market rates and available options, a comprehensive report—covering costs, savings, and overall effectiveness over a five- to ten-year horizon—will be presented.
