April 16, 2026

Officials from the Dasu Hydropower Project (DHPP) distributed health and hygiene kits to hundreds of students at two girls' primary schools on Wednesday, part of a broader community wellness initiative managed by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

According to a Gwadar Pro's report, a total of 307 students at Government Girls Primary School DC Colony and 123 students at Government Girls Primary School Chiraghabad received the kits.

The program aims to improve personal hygiene standards and promote healthy habits among youth in the Upper Kohistan region.

Local educators welcomed the distribution, citing its potential to improve student health and confidence.

The initiative is part of a larger campaign launched on March 15 that has already reached the Seo area, where 433 kits were distributed earlier this month.

DHPP officials said they plan to extend the program to 11 government high schools across Upper Kohistan to bolster preventive healthcare awareness among both students and teachers.

The Dasu Hydropower Project, a major run-of-river scheme on the Indus River, is being developed by the China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC).

The project has a total planned capacity of 4,320 megawatts (MW). Stage I, currently under construction, is expected to generate 2,160 MW and produce approximately 12,222 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually.
