Balochistan Govt expands youth enterprise programme to GwadarBreaking

January 11, 2026

The Balochistan government approved the extension of its Enterprise Development Programme to the districts of Gwadar, Kech and Awaran, and unveiled plans for an electric vehicle subsidy scheme and a health insurance programme for provincial government employees, provincial officials said.

The expanded enterprise programme aims to support youth‑led businesses and income‑generating activities in underdeveloped and remote areas as part of efforts to promote inclusive growth.

The initiative offers interest‑free loans to small and medium enterprises and start‑ups.

According to official documents available with Gwadar Pro, the programme is included under the Balochistan Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for 2025‑26 with a total outlay of Rs16 billion, of which about Rs3.5 billion is earmarked for this fiscal year.

The cabinet also approved a subsidised electric bike scheme intended to ease transportation costs for students, working women and government employees.

Under the plan, eligible buyers will receive up to a 30% government subsidy, and the remainder can be financed through bank instalments.

Pakistan’s federal government separately announced a larger electric vehicle rollout plan earlier in 2025 that includes distribution of Chinese‑made e‑bikes and other electric vehicles to youth nationwide, including in Balochistan, to promote green transport and jobs.
